Staff of JRI
The current members of staff at JRI were commissioned at a special service held in 2001 at the Chapel of the University of Gloucestershire.
David Thistlethwaite
is JRI's Administrator. He studied history and art history at Cambridge, and was converted to Christ some three years
into working towards a research degree in art theory. Many years later his work at that time coalesced into the book
The art of God and the religions of Art (Solway/Paternoster, 1998), which was an attempt to view the current
condition of art in relation to art as we might judge it was meant to be, from looking at the Creation and knowing the
Lord of the Creation. Between those times David worked for UCCF's Professional Groups, helping Christian professionals
and academics in their task of applying biblical faith to their spheres of work. David and his family keep in touch with
nature and rural issues through living on a Cotswold hilltop surrounded by sheep. They worship at a Vineyard church in
Cheltenham.
John McKeown
is JRI's Computing Officer (part-time 0.25). Since 1999 he has been Associate Lecturer, Open University, tutoring for
their fully-online 1st year Technology course. After an MA in 16th century Church History, and later
completing a PGCE to qualify for school teaching, John worked for some years in commercial software
companies. Then, from 1994-99 he was a Research Associate at Leicester University, creating
computer-aided learning materials with CTI Geography, Geology and Meteorology.
John lives in Tewkesbury with wife Lynda and two small children.
